“ It's all there, that voice, soaring sax, layered drums and textured guitar riffs...timeless...” - Glastonbury Festival
Having just celebrated 30 years of Breaking Glass, HAZEL O'CONNOR embarks upon her first ever Greatest Hits tour, in which you can catch all of the hits and songs from this iconic film in addition to subsequent chart singles live. Melding Hazel's superb vocals with soaring sax, guitar, piano, bass and drums, this is the full band sound .
Hazel O'Connor with her sultry vocals is no stranger to the live scene. Striding into the spotlight, with her lead role in Dodi Fayed's cult movie Breaking Glass in 1980, Hazel immediately became an iconic figure as well as a BAFTA nominated actress. She was the first female to star in a hit film and also write and perform its soundtrack, which went Top 5. There were hits and eye-catching Top of The Pops appearances aplenty along the way. Hazel's ageless songs include Eighth Day, Will You, Big Brother, Monsters in Disguise, Calls The Tune, If Only, Give Me An Inch , Blackman, Hanging Around and That's Life, all of which seem even more relevant in our present times.
In this very special show, award winning singer-songwriter Hazel also teams up here with celebrated saxophonist/backing vocalist CLARE HIRST (Bellestars, Communards Bowie ) and the wonderful SARAH FISHER (Eurythmics) on keyboards/backing vocals. Unmissable!
The year was 1980. The UK slid into recession and inflation stood at 18 per cent. Amid the doom and gloom - a film that captured the era precisely and made an unknown singer-songwriter from Coventry into a star. Breaking Glass launched the career of Hazel O'Connor. Andy Bevan - Central Television (ITV).
