Jonathan studied at the Royal Northern College of Music under the tutelage of Hannah Roberts and in July 2010 graduated with a first class Honours degree. During this period Jonathan was guided by Ralph Kirshbaum, both at the RNCM and the London Master Classes.
"In more than a decade as a reviewer, I have rarely witnessed such precocity as displayed by young American pianist Marisa Gupta. Listening to her, I realized why she has recently won the top prize in the Haverhill Sinfonia Soloists’ Competition. She really made the piano ‘speak’ with her assured technique and her emotional involvement with the four contrasting works she performed.
