House of Cards are thrilled to present the debut gig by R I S E at The Castle Hotel on Saturday 25th May, with support from Salford's Stalagmites.

R I S E

Rise are Daz Whittaker (vocals), Ernie Robinson (guitar), Lee Graham (bass) and Dale Baker (drums).

Formed in early 2013 in Manchester, RISE hid themselves away to write and rehearse the songs that would shape them. Working closely with friends N-Trance in the studio, the sound on record is that of a band with years of experience yet not lacking aggression and hunger.
Forging a sound somewhere between The Longcut, The Music, and The Verve circa-93, RISE have a unique and refreshing sound, simply describing themselves as ‘space rock dance’.

Debut Single ‘Purple Heart’ is what RISE are all about and shows of all of their best traits in one song. Released digitally on Monday 29th April, the track will be available from all Major Online Retailers.

Stalagmites

Stalagmites are a Post-Punk Psychedelic Rock & Roll band consisting of Bradley Lynch (Vocals/Guitar), Alex Hardman (Guitar) and Daniel Jones (Drums). Based in a warehouse in industrial Salford, they have been developing their sound for around a year now. The band have evolved quickly and solidified their unique sound, losing two bassists in the process and finally deciding to be a 3-piece.

Although proud to be from Manchester with its rich musical heritage, Stalagmites severe all roots which entangle many other bands with a view to creating a sound and a vision which is unprecedented. Traces of great bands of the past will be found, such as Echo & the Bunnymen, and so too will traces of more recent bands such as Interpol; however, it is different elements of such bands which are being used in combination to produce something altogether new, refreshing, melodic and visceral.
