The Radio Shed Present; Johnny5thWheel&thecowards
Johnny5thWheel&thecowards are a psych-folk band from the North-West of England. Their second album 'Music To Shake'n'Shuffle To' was released through Sotones Records in late 2012.
Formed at the end of 2009, Johnny5thWheel&thecowards was two men and a lot of friends trying something completely different. Ostensibly the vehicle for the songs of Richard Lomax, it was more of a collective than a band, it allowed for a greater freedom of sound and experimentation.
In June of 2010 they released their limited edition hand-crafted E.P. and then in October of 2010 they scraped together some money and self-released the debut album entitled 'TalesOf...' to positive reviews, being called a "work of genius" and regularly receiving 5 stars.
It was eventually voted in the Top 50 albums released that year by God Is In The TV. This was followed by some successful festival appearances at Kendal Calling and Beat-Herder.
Having settled on the more permanent line-up, they are currently working on their third album hopefully out in 2013.
"'TalesOf...Johnny5thWheel&thecowards' is a work of genius." - Whisperin' & Hollerin'
"Music that wouldn't sound out of place in a Wes Anderson film." - Drunken Werewolf
"Johnny5thWheel&thecowards have crafted one of the finest folk-pop records I've heard all year, stuffed with imagination in its careful construction of the familiar and the oddball into a consistent record of bittersweet, broken-hearted, stirring and occasionally rather funny songs that all compliment one another perfectly... A charming, witty and superb album. 5/5" - God Is In The T.V. Zine
"Clever. Inventive. Quirky. Stark raving bonkers." - Unplug The Jukebox
