Finzi Eclogue for piano and strings
Vaughan Williams’ delightful and justly popular Fantasias open OCS’s Christmas concert this year. Talented Form 6 Oakham School pupil Anson Yip is the solo pianist in Finzi’s moving Eclogue. The major work in tonight’s programme is Dona Nobis Pacem, Vaughan Williams’ passionate plea for peace written in the troubled 1930s, which he imbued with splendour and warmth for humanity – very appropriate for the season!
