In September 2009 Sofya Gulyak was awarded the 1st prize and the Princess Mary Gold Medal at the 16th Leeds International Piano Competition – the first and only woman to achieve this distinction. Since then she has appeared all over the world to great acclaim.
Miss Gulyak played for The Chopin Society last year. We normally don't invite pianists back again within 3 years, but for her we have made an exception.
