Fwd: Rock Splits Boys is a feature-length scripted performance by artist Charlotte Prodger and Isla Leaver Yap that examines the circuitous language of contemporary desire.
Based on Prodger and Leaver Yap’s correspondence in the months leading up to the date of performance, the dialogue comprises text, video and music. Fwd: Rock Splits Boys examines how the Internet ʻsequencesʼ private experiences, as well as the typologies that occur when desire is conflated with technology. This sequencing is considered in relation to the emergence of human language development, time-keeping devices, and outdoor recreation, as well as our contemporary apparatus – internet forums, web browsers, online databases.
Fwd: Rock Splits Boys builds on Prodger and Leaver-Yap’s first collaboration Re: Re: Re: Homos and Light, performed at Artists Space in New York earlier this year, and their published conversation Re: Homos and Light, in Mousse Magazine, October – November 2012.

CHARLOTTE PRODGER
Charlotte Prodger is an artist based in Glasgow. Her installations and performances explore what happens to speech, and the self for which it is a conduit, as it transmutates via time, space and various technological systems. Recent solo exhibitions include Percussion Biface 1-13 at Studio Voltaire, London (2012) and :-*, Intermedia, Glasgow (2012) and group exhibitions and performances at Artists Space, New York, LUX/ICA Biennial of Moving Images and CCA, Glasgow. Prodger is a founding member of the band Muscles of Joy and as a DJ, organises the monthly Kino Fist nights in Glasgow. She is represented by Kendall Koppe and nominated for Jarman Award 2013.
ISLA LEAVER-YAP
Isla Leaver-Yap writes about and organises projects with artists and individuals who, in the past year, have included Giles Bailey, Andrea Büttner, Cage, Lygia Clark, Moyra Davey, Maria Fusco, Pat Hearn, Emma Hedditch, Angie Keefer, Alexander Kluge, Lucy McKenzie, Fionn Meade, Persona, Elizabeth Price, James Richards, Helke Sander, Ben Schumacher, Lucy Skaer, Mary Simpson, Rita Sobral Campos, Cara Tolmie, Dena Yago, and YU. She recently moved to Glasgow.
The event is realised with support from The Elephant Trust. A second performance will take place 7 November 2013 at Spike Island, Bristol.
