Leicester's Yeah Yeah Noh formed in 1984, recording three Peel sessions, two albums and five singles on Marc Riley's 'In Tape' label. Their early music was witty DIY post punk which morphed into a more psychedelic sound. After splitting, two compilation LPs were released. Now reformed in 2011, their current line-up includes original members John Grayland, Derek Hammond and Tom Slater plus Dermot O'Sullivan, Antony Cook and Fiona Hodgson. Mojo magazine recently referred to them as 'calor-gas psychedelia'.
I, Ludicrous achieved immortality in 1987 when 'Preposterous Tales' reached number 11 in John Peel's Festive 50. This was after a homemade 4 track cassette found its way to Mark E Smith who booked them to support the Fall. The line-up since 2008 now includes Martin Brett from Voice of The Beehive.
Brighton's crazy comedy 'almost-cabaret' punk band Anal Beard have been around since 1995. Expect some madness and bring your bus pass along.
