Riyad Nicolas "Syria's leading young pianist" (International Piano Magazine 2012) was born in Aleppo, Syria in 1989,and has already established himself as a leading figure of his generation on the international performing circuit. Among his recent achievements he lists First Prize at the Francaix International Piano Competition in Paris and his débuts at the Wigmore Hall and the Cadogan Hall in London.
Other successes include prizes at The Seiler (Greece) and The Ciutat de Carlet (Spain) International Competitions, as well as 1st prize from the Norah Sande Award, The Christopher Duke Recital Prize and the Educational Award from the London International Piano Competition (UK). He was also selected to be a Tillett Trust Young Artist in 2012.
He has performed with many orchestras including the London Chamber Orchestra, YMSO, Emirate Symphony Orchestra, Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, as well as with the Chamber Orchestra of Aleppo. Having given recitals in many prestigious venues in London and at numerous festivals across the UK, Riyad's performances have also taken him to countries such as France, Spain, Switzerland, USA and some Arab States.

Riyad moved to London in 2005, when he was awarded a scholarship to study at both the Purcell School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music with Sulamita Aronovsky. In September 2013 he began a Master of performance course, studying at the Royal College of Music with Dmitri Alexeev. Riyad has participated in masterclasses and was complimented by such musicians as Daniel Barenboim, Vladimir Ashkenazy and John Lill.
