John Jones and the Reluctant Ramblers

John Jones is the charismatic lead singer of award-winning Oysterband and has been an avid walker for many years. Over the past six years he has combined his love of walking with playing music in the evening after walking during the day.

John and friends are walking from Presteigne, near where John lives, to the Shrewsbury Folk Festival where he is patron. The first day's walk ends in Bishops Castle where John and his band, the "Reluctant Ramblers", will play a gig at the Three Tuns.

The Reluctant Ramblers include Al Scott on guitar/mandolin, Tim Cotterell on fiddle/mandolin, Dil Davies on drums and Lindsey Oliver on double bass. Rowan Godel joins John on vocals.

For this gig, they are joined by special guest Boff Whalley (ex Chumbawamba), who will also walk with John during the day.

John and friends walk on to Pontesbury on the Thursday via Stiperstones then onto Shrewsbury on the Friday when they will open the festival on the main stage.
