Violinists Flora Curzon and Piotr Jordan started Gaia Duo in 2014 after they decided to realise their passion for playing works for solo violin and violin duet, and explore in more depth their improvisation partnership. The two have played together in multiple ensembles, from string quartets to gypsy bands, but have discovered great excitement and satisfaction in playing repertoire written for just two violins. Of all the forms of chamber music, the duo is the most flexible and compact, and the unique partnership of Flora and Piotr renders their particular duo open to playing a wide range of music, from the baroque period to the 21st century, as well as eastern European folk, swing and freely improvised music.
This evenings concert will feature music by Mozart, Bach, Telemann and Ysaye, as well as traditional and improvised music from all over Eastern Europe.
