A gorgeously filmed German documentary about the contemporary dance choreographer Pina Bausch. During the filming Pina Bausch died unexpectedly. Director Wim Wenders cancelled the film production, but the dancers of Tanztheater Wuppertal convinced him to make the film anyway. The film showcases the dancers who talk about Pina and perform some of her best-known pieces Rite of Spring and Kontact and others both in Wuppertal theatre and on location in the city. It has won many awards
