Well it was in April of 2015 when we had the pleasure of hosting one of our small scale gigs for an unknown (at the time) American country singer by the name of Cale Tyson…..his album had made a big impression on us here at Square Roots Towers, and you music loving folks obviously agreed too as the show quickly sold out. And with a massive thumbs up and lots of radio airplay from Bob Harris, the waiting list for returned tickets was very long indeed! Indeed his whole tour was met with critical acclaim from all quarters.

Those of you who came to the show will know what a very special night it was as Cale and Pete Lindbergh mesmerised us all - it was definitely one of those “I was there” moments!

Well, we are absolutely chuffed to bits to announce that not only is Cale returning to the Square Tower for a full show in the main hall, but he’s also bringing his band with him!

Cale Tyson is a singer, songwriter and guitar player from Nashville, Tennessee. Born in a small town in Texas, he was raised in Fort Worth, the home of Townes Van Zandt and the place where he first heard the classic country sounds that have inspired and enriched his gentle, melancholy, and undeniably whiskey-soaked sound.

"Tyson channels all the woe and despair you could find in his native Texas on the album, crafting meandering and warbling ballads that harken back to the heartbreak songs of old country.” (American Songwriter Magazine)

With a nostalgic heart and an ear for melodies from long ago, Tyson’s UK release, “Introducing…” is a beautiful collection of songs that continue the legacy of some of the legendary songwriters whose music he first heard as a child - Gram Parsons, Guy Clark and Willie Nelson, to name but a few.
Recorded in Nashville, the album features some of the town’s finest players including guitarist Kenny Vaughan (Marty Stuart), keys player Tyson Rogers (Don Williams), John McTigue (Brazilbilly) on drums and Mike Rinne (Caitlin Rose and Andrew Combs) on bass.

The end result is at once a loving tribute to the great country songwriters that have come before him and also a persuasive plea to those who might think that country music’s best days have been and gone. As long as Cale Tyson has a say in it, the best days might yet be still to come.
