Event information

Well hello there,

Always fancied a gander at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival but can't be arsed to shimmy all the way up to Scotland?

No worries! I've carefully selected some shows that I think would fit in bloody marvellously at Barking Tales and am indeed bringing them to you during May - August :)

The first is from Sophie Willan (Magners 2015 New Act - winner)

(As seen and heard on BBC at The Edinburgh Festivals, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4 Extra.)

On Record

Sophie grew up in and out of Care. At 23 she received all her personal records from the State. In a dark and hilarious debut hour this 'Bright emerging star' (BBC Comedy) explores who she is today through the eyes of experts that have assessed her. Expect brutal honesty and raucous unpredictability.

"...managing to bridge the gap between old school and alternative - massive main stream appeal" Beyond The Joke

"One thing that made her stand out was the authenticity of the material"
Chortle

"Honest, thoughtful politicking... One to watch."
The Skinny

Opening we've got Danny Sutcliffe

Danny Sutcliffe is a stand-up comedian from Droylsden, Manchester. He started doing stand up in 2009, and in all the gigs he has done since then, has only been knocked unconscious once. That was his best gig. He used to have a brilliant perm, but he doesn't anymore. It was proper brilliant. He misses it every day. He might grow it back.

And a short spot of new bits from James Meehan

Offbeat, aloof, yet delightfully likeable, James Meehan is a current rising star of the British comedy scene.

Described as brilliantly unconventional, and refreshingly nonchalant, as a stand-up, James is carving out a niche for himself as a wonderfully offbeat presence on the circuit.

"Wonderfully Deadpan" - Fest

MCing as per usual is Harriet Dyer

"a bundle of whimsical hilarity... a breath of fresh air.. will have you in stitches" Broadway Baby

"Instinctively funny... seems certain to become a comic force to be reckoned with" Chortle

"She's got funny bones!" Kevin Bridges

Any profit made from the night goes to Manchester Mind. Doors open at 7:00, show starts at 8:00.
