The Camilla George Quartet features saxophonist Camilla George (Jazz Jamaica,Courtney Pine's Venus Warriors), pianist Sarah Tandy (Jazz Jamaica, Gilad Atzmon), bassist Daniel Casimir (Clark Tracey, Jean Toussaint) and drummer Femi Koleoso (Ezra Collective, Jean Toussaint, Tomorrows Warriors).
Formed in 2014, CGQ has a modern edge whilst paying homage to the jazz tradition, inspired by artists such as Kenny Kirkland, Wynton Marsalis and Kenny Garrett. They released their debut EP, 'Lunacity' to critical acclaim. Their debut album, 'Isang' a celebration of jazz from its African roots through to its modern day forms. Isang is an Erik/Ibibio word which means journey symbolising the journey that CGQ have embarked upon. Efik is the language of South-Eastern Nigerians where Camilla was born. This album will be released under Ubuntu Records and will be available from early 2017.
