The Foyle Film Festival - Before The Rains

Event information

South Asian director Santosh Sivan ("The Terrorist"," Asoka The Great"), makes his English Language feature debut with "Before The Rains". Set in Southern India in the 1930's British adventurer Henry Moores (Linus Roache) hopes to develop his spice business by constructing a road. It's a complicated undertaking and Moores cannot get the road built without the help of T.K. (Rahul Bose), his local righthand man. T.K. protects Moores' relationship with the village labourers and accommodates their customs and superstitions. However T.K.'s respect for his British boss is shattered when he discovers that he is having an affair with his married housemaid, Sajani.
