Britain’s first lady of chanson, song stylist and Bob Dylan interpreter extraordinaire Barb Jungr returns to the Vortex with a special collection combining songs from the cream of British and American songwriters. With material by Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and others, she explores the full range of human experience with passion and humour. An award-winning singer with six highly praised Linn Records CD’s released internationally, Jungr now regularly performs in the USA and recently toured Australia. Her work spans jazz, blues and folk genres and most recently she has celebrated the repertoire of Nina Simone. Fearless and funny, Barb is unique. She appears at the Vortex accompanied by pianist and arranger, Jenny Carr and on organ, harmonica, autoharp and melodica, Jessica Lauren.
