Returning with our first gig of 2009..

LAWM proudly presents the return of Leeds band GLISSANDO. Often described as ambient, experimental or post-rock, or even a cross between Low and Mogwai. This is dreamy and beautiful music to get totally lost in. They are the sort of band that 4ad records would have snapped up in 1992 and probably still should. They return with cello and violin added to their sound - this will be breathtaking!

Some words about Glissando's new album 'With Our Arms Wide Open We March Towards the Burning Sea':

"Press releases rarely get it right (One Night Only are "Britain's hottest new band" apparently) but the advice accompanying Leeds duo Glissando's second outing that it "should be listened to at night" couldn't be closer to the truth. Highlight 'Floods' for example, a 14 minute ambient epic of dark piano keys, haunting strings and resonating chants, is no summer jam. It does, however, have the kind of atmosphere that can captivate and relax in equal measure- never before has tranquility sounded so urgent. While track lengths of over 10 minutes may fail to hold the attention of the ADHD sufferers among us, with patience it plays like a majestic dream. And it's one you'll never want to wake up from."
NME 7/10

"This record completely took me over for the whole 70 minutes. I was hanging on every chord waiting for their next move."
Comfort Comes 9/10

"Low meets Mogwai, only with fragments of Regina Spektor at her most restrained. Exceptional."
RockFood 5/5

"the more sedate moments culled from Set Fire to Flames back catalogue are an underlying influence as are both the measured and mercurial montages cast into the public eye by early career Sigur Ros and Godspeed You Black Emperor" - Losing Today

Manchester's LIGHT SYNDICATE provide main support, worth coming to see in their own right.

"Their ever-twisting equations of sound coalesce into a tangible shape that makes the hairs on your neck stand up." - MANCHESTER MUSIC

“…reinvigorates the ‘quiet loud’ rock dynamic in a way you’ve never heard it before..” – MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS

“It seems that the children of Radiohead are finally beginning to stir” – GIGWISE.COM

Preston's exuberant CHAOTIX and the guitar experimentalism of OPERATIONS complete the bill.
