We couldn't have a more fitting show for May Day (International Workers Day). Otis Gibbs likes to call his songs “love songs for young radicals” - the rest of us may call them "protest songs". Not just political, these are songs about/of the people. Reminiscent of STEVE EARLE and FRED EAGLESMITH, no less than BILLY BRAGG has fallen under his spell, taking Otis on tour with him and declaring "he's carrying on the tradition".
Otis also appeared on the Songs Of America compilation, curated by US Attorney General, Janet Reno. His most recent release, Grandpa Walked A Picket Line, features masterful songwriting and guest appearances from Al Perkins, Don Dixon and Tim Easton, and was produced by Chris Stamey (who has done the same for Chatham County Line).
