Alvorada are the UK’s leading performers of Choro, a rich and uplifting style of instrumental music from Brazil. Choro emerged in the late 19th century as a mixture of European harmony with African rhythm, and can be considered the jazz of Brazil.
Alvorada explore influences from all over Brazil, playing Choros with the irresistible swing of samba from the South and baião from the Northeast. As well as playing classics from the Choro genre, Alvorada play original works, revisiting the genre with influences from the UK. Alvorada have just finished recording their debut album, which will be released in Spring 2019.

Alvorada perform regularly as a band, and also host a regular 'Roda de Choro', an informal jam around the table where choro musicians are welcome to participate. Alvorada are also available for private functions.
