This willowy singer is one of the finest songwriters on the American contemporary folk scene, writing simple melodies with literate and visual lyrics, passionately sung. While many of her songs are very personal and emotional, Gilkyson's writing has been showing an increasingly socio-political side in recent years never afraid to highlight the folly, and tragedy of war or injustice.
On this, her 6th UK, tour she’s accompanied by her son, Cisco Ryder, on percussions, and Mike Hardwick on guitars – who’s played on 4 of Eliza’s most recent albums.
Green Note is perfectly suited to the relaxed and intimate atmosphere which Eliza creates at her shows and her poignant songwriting sits beautifully alongside the songs she often includes by her father - ‘Memories Are Made Of This’ and ‘Bare Necessities’.
