David Thomas Broughton - Complete Complete Guide. David plays his first album Complete Guide to Insufficiency in its entirety, plus a few surprises.
DTB returns following sell out show at Bush Hall, and having played main stage set at End of the Road Festival the previous week.
"gorgeous hangdog voice, which recalls a less taciturn Nick Drake with the vocal mannerisms of Antony blended into the dusty, mystical ambiance of Vashti Bunyan" Pitchfork 8.4 review of Complete Guide....
"The tension was unbearable and riveting. Was he on drugs? Was he in the midst of some kind of manic episode? Was it all just an elaborate avant-garde stage act? It was impossible to tell, so much so that as he strode through the audience one felt a distinct sense of menace: If he’d suddently decided to physically assault a spectator, it would have seemed perfectly logical in context. Yet for all its absurdity and creepiness, the performance was gorgeous."
Hank Schteamer - Time Out New York
Twi the Humble Feather - Acclaimed New York trio in their first stint in Europe.
the sound of ‘twi the humble feather’, in its trio form, could be characterized as a cinematic, sci-fi adventure. although currently a completely acoustic act, using no electronic effects whatsoever, the trio manages to vocally present percussive rhythms and sweeping spaceship sounds. chanting falsettos are often accompanied with delicate and fierce, super-dynamic staccato melodies and guitar chords; which often create intermittent minimalist drones by the unified resonance of acoustic frequencies.
"Precise and ethereal, the music ends up in a peculiar place, somewhere in the midst of math, meditation and the singsong of a child making up a new myth." - NY Times
