Wussy are the current project of Ass Ponys' mainman, Chuck Cleaver, sharing songwriting (and singing) with Lisa Walker. If you're thinking "Ass Ponys: who...?", I promise I haven't disappeared up my own geek-hole. I could wax for hours on how immense a band they were/are, but for now, let's concentrate on Wussy.... who hail from Cincinnati, and like fellow Ohioan, Guided By Voices' Robert Pollard, betray a deep love of classic English pop. But while Pollard has a self-professed love of the Beatles, Cleaver and co. are a beautiful synthesis of C86 (Wedding Present et al) indie guitar rock with memorably dark, off-kilter lyrics. Now, how 'bout those Ass Ponys?!
