Thunderclap Newman Band Celebrates 40 Years of
'Something In The Air'

On the 2nd of July 1969, Something In The Air reached #1 in the UK charts. It stayed there for 3 weeks. The song hit a nerve around the world and is now considered to be a classic of its era. It's been covered by many artists from Tom Petty to the Eurythmics and has featured in countless films and commercials.

Thunderclap Newman Band, under the leadership of Andy ‘Thunderclap’ Newman, has come together to celebrate the music of Thunderclap Newman and to honour the legacy of John ‘Speedy’ Keen and Jimmy McCulloch.

Six musicians of various nationalities and with different musical backgrounds, Thunderclap Newman Band are performing the long lost classic album Hollywood Dream in its entirety. Songs written by Andy, Speedy and Jimmy after the band went their separate ways are also part of the live set, alongside material written by the current band members. This is a truly exciting project with many musical possibilities waiting in the wings.

A video clip of Something In The Air, filmed at the famous 100 Club in London, is planned for release in 2009 to mark the 40th anniversary of the #1 hit record.

Hollywood Dream celebrates its own 40th anniversary in 2010, when it will be re-released by Universal Records.

Thunderclap Newman Band will be appearing at The Limelight in Crewe on August 23 and at the Jericho Tavern in Oxford on September12, 2009.

New York Waste magazine reviewed Thunderclap Newman Band's gig at the Half Moon in Putney, London in March, 2008:
