Brahms’s German Requiem sets contemplative texts from the Lutheran Bible, drawing from them a message of affirmation and hope. This performance offers a rare opportunity to hear Brahms’s own intimate piano-duet version of the work, which highlights the beautiful lines of his choral writing.
We are privileged to be joined by soprano Claire Weston. In the first half of the concert, Claire will sing appropriate lieder by Brahms and Schumann and the choir will sing unaccompanied motets by Brahms which will set the tone for this chamber performance of the Requiem.
