Sally Barker presents a captivating evening of Joni Mitchell's poignant early songs in a show dedicated to one of the truly great singer/songwriters. No mean songwriter herself, Sally has cherished a yearning to present an evening of Joni's songs since she was asked to perform "Coyote" in a tribute version of Martin Scorsese's film "The Last Waltz". The timbre and phrasing of Sally's voice bear an uncanny resemblance to that of the cool Canadian from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and the naive yearnings of a girl in her early 20s is supplemented by the perspective of experience and wisdom.
Sally (a founder member of the all-women folk band "The Poozies") is joined by fellow singer/songwriter Debbie Cassell on piano, banjo and backing vocals and from the Satie-esque setting of "Blue" to the rockin' rumpus of "Raised on Robbery" these 2 women take you on a dynamic journey through the heart and mind.
"The audience was mesmerised by Sally's breath-taking performance. She magically brought Joni Mitchell's material back to life - not in a tribute or covers band style, but breathed in fresh life, love and passion"
