2010 MUSICAL COMEDY AWARDS - FIRST ROUND

Come and watch the UK's best emerging musical comedians battle it out
Now in it's second year, the Musical Comedy Awards is an unique competition that celebrates the emerging musical comedy community in the UK and promotes the venerable art form of comedy songwriting as an independent genre.
The UK's top forty emerging musical comedians have been selected by Time Out Comedy editor Tim Arthur and other judges from Avin a Larf's dedicated musical comedy website www.musicalcomedy.co.uk to compete in a series of live heats - come and watch the pick of the crop do battle for the crown of the 2010 Musical Comedy Awards!
Each of the first round heats will showcase ten musical comedians alongside one established circuit act. As you will soon see from the talent on display, many of the emerging artists are firmly on their way to being established too. Here are the dates for the first round heats:
Jan 9th - 9 artists from www.musicalcomedy.co.uk + EARL OKIN 'Multi-talented musical supremo' - TIME OUT
Jan 16th - 9 artists from www.musicalcomedy.co.uk + GAVIN OSBORN - 'A brilliantly accomplished singer-songwriter with touchingly quirky lyrics' - CHORTLE
Jan 23rd - 10 artists from www.musicalcomedy.co.uk + JO NEARY - 'Somewhere between a Radio 4 play and sitting next to the mad woman on the bus' - THE GUARDIAN
Jan 30th - 10 artists from www.musicalcomedy.co.uk + ISY SUTTIE - 'Gloriously upbeat...a wonderfully whimsical musical comedian, an absurdist Victoria Wood' -The EVENING STANDARD
*The ten artists scheduled for the Jan 30th heat are:
Ben Glasstone, Sooz Kempner, Tom Adams, Helen Arney, George Prow, Danse Macabre, Strong & Wrong, Eustus, Max and Ivan, Jay Foreman
