Event information

Children For Breakfast have teamed up with The Green Man festival to bring you Wales' finest Cate Le Bon and New Zealand's finest Lawrence Arabia's (Bella Union) joint tour to Sheffield.

Cate Le Bon

I'll get it out of the way early; this is the Cate Le Bon that featured on Neon Neon's massive hit 'I Lust U'. She also supported Gruff Rhys on his solo tour as well as touring with local favourites Slow Club. Described by the Super Furry Animals main man as “Bobbie Gentry and Nico fight(ing) over a Casio keyboard; melody wins!”

"Comes across like Joni backed by SFA’s surreal synths" NME

"So many comparisons that could be made with the like of Feist or Jenny Lewis, but Le Bon’s latest offering shows that she has begun on the road to carving a truly striking and unique sound for herself" The Line Of Best Fit

"Whimsical acid folk from Gruff Rhys’ protégée" Uncut (Album of the month)

Support comes from Bella Union signed New Zealand poppers

Lawrence Arabia

Lawrence Arabia is the alter-ego of New Zealand's James Milne playing solo after stints in Okkervil River, The Brunettes and The Ruby Suns. He invents a journeyman's self-mocking world of despair and disdain, easy on the ear and graciously free of the twee sentiment that could so easily come as part of the 60s-aping production. He wrote the soundtrack for the Flight Of The Conchord staring 'Eagle Vs Shark' film.

"Low-slung Americana and indie-pop hooks form the core to Milne's distantly-voiced dry wit on topics including schoolboy crushes and drunken debauchery" BBC

"Lawrence Arabia has all the sunny charm, and breezy ephemerality, of a late-August afternoon. Milne can spin out catchy melodies without breaking a sweat" The Observer

"His album is chock full of inventive arrangement and delivered with bubbling gusto and a winning confidence in his own abilities that keeps everything fresh" The Line Of Best Fit
