Trevor Wishart is the composer of ‘Red Bird’, ‘Anticredos’, ‘Tongues of Fire’, ‘Two Women’, ‘Globalalia’ and the ‘Vox cycle’, all of which take their starting point in different ways from the sounding properties of the human voice. Wishart’s achievement was finally recognized in November 2008, when he received the Giga-Hertz Grand Prize in recognition of his life’s work, confirming him as one of the world’s greatest living electroacoustic composers.
This concert presents two recent electroacoustic compositions based on different aspects of the human voice – ‘Globalalia’; and ‘Two Women’, which transforms the voices of Margaret Thatcher, Princess Diana and the Reverend Ian Paisley.
