VESNITSA - Junior Folk Ensemble

Performance starts at 7.30pm. There will be a 30 minute interval.

The singers and dancers of “Vesnitsa” are children and young people from the Gomel Region of Belarus. Their families were evacuated from the most heavily Chernobyl contaminated areas after the 1986 accident. The group are well known in their home country and have won the Grand Prix at a Children’s International Folk Festival in Ukraine last year. This is the first time they have performed in Britain or indeed outside of Eastern Europe.

Circus is very popular in Minsk and every city has its own permanent circus building. ‘Belaya Rus’ are a group of six children from the city of Minsk who have amazing skills as jugglers, trick cyclists and acrobats.
