Chew Disco (est. 2009) = emerging electro, dance-punk, riot grrrl, trash and alternative DIY bands, performance art, DJs, and cult/HORROR/b-movies and transgressive film/video art + sexual/creative empowerment and political activism for queers, straights, homo-radicals, misfits, outcasts, feminists, and alternative thinkers.
We are Khalil and Emma. We like: QUEER REBELLION, bell hooks, sock hops, LYCANTHROPY, Jack Wrangler movies, BAYARD RUSTIN, zombie hordes, albatrosses, Frances Farmer and URVASHI VAID.
Proceeds from The Sideshow -- our 6th edition of Chew Disco, organised to coincide with Liverpool Pride -- will support our friends at Iraqi LGBT, an LGBT rights organisation supporting queers in Iraq who are subjected to kidnapping, torture (anal-gluing, mutilation, rape), beatings and execution routinely and have no protection either by legislation or police forces: http://iraqilgbt.org.uk/
