LAM
A modern piece of dramatic writing
By Christopher William Hill
In a Cornish Village in 1941, Hamilton and Plum Mutton are struggling to keep their butcher's shop from closing. So far, they have refused to break the law, but when an overwhelming black market temptation involving the Women’s Institute arises, Lam Mutton’s beloved pet pig, is for the pork chop. This dramatic and deeply moving story exposes the frailty of the human spirit in a tough and unforgiving time.
Beautifully written by West Country and National Theatre playwright, Christopher William Hill. He captures to perfection the atmosphere of wartime necessity and creates extraordinarily vivid characters whose lives are illuminated with wit and perception.
First performed at the Northcott Theatre, Exeter, 1999.
TWO
A classic comedy
BY JIM CARTWRIGHT
In a northern pub, the action centres around a bickering Landlord and Landlady and all the colourful customers that drop in for a tipple. An award winning play of utter brilliance performed with skill and sensitivity.
“richly textured…A highly entertaining show…” The Independent
“ love in a mundane world where romance is the stuff of fantasy alone…touching and unsentimental…excellent..” The Times
