Bringing together an enviable line up of British experimentalists, ON MARGATE SOUNDS promises to be an immersive feast for your senses. Spanning twisted folk, skewed pop, electronica and noise, the all day event will take place at one of the smallest theatres in the world.
Audio-Visual works will incorporate found Margate sounds, collected on the day. The audience are also encouraged to become collaborators, bringing their own recorded contributions or noise-making offerings to be used by the artists.
Attendees will receive a take home CDR memento of the day, containing the day's collected sounds. This will form the basis of on online sound library, to be expanded at planned future events across the country.

LIVE PERFORMANCES BY:
Multi-instrumentalist THOMAS WHITE joins us fresh from Guilfest and performing at Richard Thompson's Meltdown. The past ten years has seen Thomas collaborating with an array of musical talent (including Patrick Wolf, British Sea Power and the Pipettes) as well as playing in his own bands, the Electric Soft Parade and Brakes. 2010 however sees the release of his solo album 'The Maximalist.' An ambitious, masterfully executed record, 'The Maximalist' is "proof of his verve, vivid imagination and fervent love of music" (Uncut ****).
Featuring Hanna Tuulikki (Nalle) and Ben Reynolds (formerly of Trembling Bells), TWO WINGS, are currently supporting Nalle on tour. After only a small number of live shows they are already making waves with their bewilderingly imaginative performances. "Poetic timeless tales that draw as much on 1960's acid folk . . . as they do on traditional music" peaking with "a breathtaking burst of magical energy, and easily some of the most convincing free-folk the UK has ever produced." (The Wire on Nalle)
LIZ GREEN is a Manchester-based musician and singer who is fast becoming a favourite on the international twisted folk scene. Her eclectic live shows often feature handmade shadow puppets, a toy bazooka and appearances by her alter ego (a robin). Winner of the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition, Liz may be from the Wirral, but she sounds like a ballsy, bluesy big momma from the Deep South. - (The Guardian)
[Soft Break]Although best known as the 'Svengali' behind the Pipettes, Robert William Barry has also gathered much critical acclaim for his solo work as MONSTER BOBBY. A mix of electronic samples, offbeat song writing and experimental pop, his debut album 'Gaps' is a brittle collection of tear-rendering vignettes and dazzling electronic dreamscapes that evokes the stirring sentimentality of summertime loving." (Drowned in Sound).
EATEN BY CHILDREN is the solo project of sound artist and film maker Rob Hart. His live performances pick away at the relationship between audio and image with unpredictable and often chaotic results. Expect amplified household objects, spoken word insanity and a succession of cine images force-fed into a clapped-out projector. Rob also runs State Sanctioned Recordings, releasing works by Bill Thompson (Family Battle Snake) and Lessons Around Us (Sonic Catering Band).
PANTHER SOCIETY are Anastasia Cohen and Nabil Ahmed. They live across the street from each other. They take their name from secret Panther cults that existed in London and the emblematic Order of the Golden Dawn. Recounting their uncanny everyday experiences helps turning them into songs. They are fragments of melodies and perplexed memories.
