John Otway returns to Oxford with his Big Band.
Otway with two hits and now two books, brings his unique madcap performance to The Wheatsheaf backed by his Big Band featuring members of the Sweeney and Eddie & the Hot Rods guitarist Richard Holgarth.
His first taste of chart success was back in 1977 with the Folk-punk anthem "Cor Baby That's Really Free" and reached number 27. He had to wait another 25 years before he would achieve his second hit and a return to Top of the Pops. A co-ordinated fan-led campaign saw Otway reach number 9 with "Bunsen Burner" a disco number with music sampled from the Trammps song "Disco Inferno".
In between those 25 years, Otway saw his "Beware of the Flowers, Cause I'm Sure They're Gonna Get You... Yeah" voted the nation's seventh favourite lyric and his loyal fans packed the Royal Albert Hall.
A genuine legend and a show not to be missed.
Advance tickets priced at £10.00. £12.00 on the door.
