THE FRANK AND WALTERS
The Frank and Walters are a pop/rock trio hailing from Cork City,
in Ireland. They rose to prominence in the early '90s, achieving
chart success as part of a movement of young, upbeat guitar pop
bands that also included the likes of the Inspiral Carpets
(with whom they toured extensively) and the Lightning Seeds,
and would influence the burgeoning Brit-pop scene shortly afterward.
The Frank and Walters formed in 1990 in the Cork suburb of
Bishopstown. The initial lineup consisted of brothers Paul
(bass and vocals) and Niall Linehan (guitar), along with
drummer Ashley Keating. They quickly gained a cult following
in Cork and were picked up by independent Dublin label Setanta
Records. The three relocated to London and began work on a pair
of EPs entitled, imaginatively, EP1 and EP2. EP2 was produced by
Dave Couse of A House and contained the minor hit "Fashion Crisis
Hits New York." EP1 and EP2 were compiled and released as a
stand-alone CD later in 1991. The initial success of the two EPs
was enough to convince Polydor affiliate Go! Discs to upstream the
band in 1992, and it wouldn't take long before they made their major
breakthrough. Third single "After All" was produced by Ian Broudie of
the Lightning Seeds and propelled the group, for the first time,
to the U.K. Top 20, peaking at number 11. Always a fantasic band live.

What they’re saying - Cool Noise Website - ‘Intense and claustrophobic
music from Bradford. Extra proof, as if anyone needed it, of the
Leeds/Bradford axis of musical accomplishment. More edge than a very
edgy thing.’
Vibrations Magazine - ‘The Hoover Dams create refreshing indie Rock’
Frantic Corduroy Website - ‘What is this low-fi loud guitar
love-in and where has it come from? Bradford, apparently. it’s
catchy, it’s interesting, it’s a little dark and it sounds like
the track was recorded on an old Memorex cassette found under the
passenger seat of someone’s car - but the lo-fi feel goes well -
it’s a bit dirty and you want it to be that way. Who wants to feel
all shiny after some gritty loud guitars? More like you need a shower
and a good scrub. But hell, you’re alive’ 9/10
Mono Magazine - ‘Hoover Dams swirling unison riffs engulf the whole
club - its fucking loud and its fucking good … there’s depth, intrigue
and more importantly DANGER here … Go and see the Hoover Dams soon.’

MR DOG
Mr Dog was formed in Hartlepool in the summer of 2009, consisting of
Greg and Joe who share the vocal and various guitar based responsibilities.
After 960 cups of coffee, the first phase of the masterplan was complete
as the Dog hit the live circuit with a bag full of home made pop gems.
Following another 240 cups of coffee, Mr Dog began to record demos of
these songs, some of which have ended up on this page and hopefully
finding their way into your lucky ears. As the North East's premier
affable quirk pop combo, they dream of one day being played in kitchens
across the nation as families and friends eat their tea to the rhythm
of the agreeable melodies, tilting their heads as they digest the wisdom
of the lyrics. The Mr Dog attidute is upbeat. If Mr Dog's style
were to be defined, it would best be described as classic.
Dr G. Mo is a handy anagram of Mr Dog, should fans wish to communicate
via code. Now lets's Re-party...
