PINEY GIR COUNTRY ROADSHOW
Piney Gir taunts traditional country music with a big city edge… Her new album Jesus Wept is a nod to Piney's strict religious upbringing and her urge to walk the line between naughty and nice. A record that's a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n' roll and a whole lot of attitude. Previously Piney has been compared to her heroes like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wy...nette; she's been hailed an 'indie Dolly Parton." But she's perhaps more Emmy Lou Harris in her Graham Parsons days, it's little girl lost… it's the devil in disguise and the devil looks good.
She joined her first band, a synth pop duo who released a single with Mute and toured Europe with Erasure. She saw the world and realised the road was in her blood, music was her sense of purpose and so she released her debut album on Truck Records in 2004. She was then the founder, singer and guitar player of all-girl, art-rock group The Schla La Las. She released Hold Yer Horses the first Country Roadshow album in 2006 and then released her 3rd solo album The Yearling on Hotel Records in 2009. She's back with the Roadshow in 2010 for Jesus Wept due for release on Damaged Goods in August.
