This New Year's Eve at The Book Club we're bringing back the tin hats, stiff upper lip and DIY glamour of the Old East End in wartime London. Get out of your Fred Astaire and lindy-hop your way into 2011 to the sound of the Bow Bells and the best tunes this side of Tipperary.

Downstairs in the Blackout Shelter we've got live jump-jazz and red-hot rhythm & blues from the hardest drinking band in Brighton, seven-piece Derriere:

On the decks DJ Wrongtom rounds off a year in which he has earned universal plaudits for Duppy Writer, his long-playing excursion with Roots Manuva, by spinning a very special set - taking in rockabilly, 50s r'n'r, 60s beat, calypso and island ska.

Ska Cubano frontman Natty Bo will be dropping in with a satchel of original 78rpms that'll make everyone want to dance the jitterbug. There's also talk of cockney piano singalongs in the back bar, while The Big Ten Inch's very own Captain Mainwaring - Count Skylarkin - is charged with keeping the whole thing in order. Don't want Gerry overhearing, do we?

Upstairs The Disco Shed presents The Dig For Victory Allotment
Though best known for their appearances on the summer festival circuit, the Shedonists are braving the winter cold and throwing their might and mettle behind the Home Front as only they know how. Purveyors of the best knees-ups west of Normandy (in a shed).
