Event information

Macbeth by William Shakespeare

“Good sir, why do you start and seem to fear things that do sound so fair?”

Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s darkest and most uncompromising tragedies. In it we encounter a world in which evil actively tempts human beings to their destruction. Evil is seen not as the creation of human beings themselves, but as a force in the universe external to and independent of human action. Essentially, Macbeth is a medieval morality tale, in which the characters are dwarfed and helpless, caught in the grip of titanic forces existing beyond them.

Our production seeks to return to this original concept and so we have decided to place it in a Medieval setting when evil was viewed as an everyday reality, a malign force actively seeking the destruction of good by preying on human weakness and vulnerability.

If tickets are no longer available on WeGotTickets, they can normally be bought on the door from 7pm.
